Do you ever look for those easy weeknight meals that the entire family will actually eat? Me too. This little meal pleases them ALL and that makes me one happy Momma!
You may have seen this recipe on the Pillsbury website as it was a contest winner but I had to try my hand at it. Let me just say ... I completely agree with the reason it was a contest winning recipe! It's easy, it's fun and even great the next day on-the-go!
The ingredients for this one are quite simple and you may even have them all on hand.
- 1 pound ground beef, (or turkey)
- 1 can Hunt's Manwich
- 1 can of Pillsbury Grands biscuits
- 1 cup of shredded cheese
- 1 egg, beaten, (to use as egg wash on top)
Sounds easy right? That's because it IS. So let's see how we put all this goodness together!
Brown your meat until cooked through. I add salt and pepper to taste during cooking because who likes bland burger?
Once cooked add in your can of Hunt's Manwich. (it just feels like a fun meal when you add Manwich!) Turn down to simmer and allow your mixture to come together.
Now we need to get our biscuits ready! Open your can of Grands biscuits and stretch out each one. You can use a can or rolling pin to roll them out, or use your hand. (It is best to have your biscuits at room temp so they will roll out nicely)
Fill it up! Add in a spoonful of your Manwich mix and a small handful of shredded cheese making sure to leave room around the edges so you can seal it up. Think of this like a mini calzone!
Fold over and pinch the sides with a fork to seal them. It's okay if some of your filling squeezes out. I call that the ooey gooey goodness.
In a small bowl whisk your egg and use that to brush on the tops of all your Un-Sloppy Joe's. This will help give a nice, golden crust to your pies.
Bake in the oven at 375 degrees for about 9-14 minutes or until golden brown.
Just look at these pockets of love! Allow to cool slightly before serving.
And there you have it ... a family fun recipe that has been given a nice little upgrade. My husband loves taking these to work in his lunch, it's a true 'hot pocket'!
Try these with your family!
~Cheers!
