I don't know about you, but I just LOVE a sweet and salty treat. There is something about sweet and salty that appeals to my taste buds unlike any other treat.
I'm all about easy and fun and this is the perfect combo of easy and fun.
Since we are coming up on Halloween parties and holiday get-togethers this is something you can make up right before your guests arrive or the day before.
So where do we start?
The ingredients don't get much easier than this:
- 1 package of microwave popcorn, (your favorite flavor - mine happens to be this one)
- 1/2 package of your favorite flavored Velata chocolate
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
Start off by popping your popcorn in the microwave.
*Completely optional - however I think it makes the chocolate mix nicely. Add butter. My popcorn came with a pourable butter package, but if yours doesn't just melt 2 tablespoons butter and pour over top.
Next up, add salt to taste. (this is your salty part - don't overdo it!)
Here's the best part: the chocolate. Since I only was making 1 bag of popcorn I only wanted to use about 1/2 a package of Velata chocolate. To do this, simply cut off the top of your Velata chocolate bag and empty the chocolate disks into a microwave safe bowl. Melt in the microwave at 30 second intervals. Stir and continue at 30 seconds until completely melted. Mine took about 1 min total.
Simply pour over your popcorn mixture.
Combine everything by stirring together.
Once combined, yours should look about like this. Delicious!! A taste test was done, because, well, that's what a good chef does, right?
Now I simply placed in the freezer for about 10 min to allow the chocolate to set slightly.
And that's IT. I told you this was easy and fun. Velata chocolate comes in four different flavors:
- Dark Chocolate
- Milk Chocolate
- Caramel Milk Chocolate
- White Chocolate
In need of Velata? Simply visit my website http://themeltingpot.velata.us and order yours today. (In September it's all 10% off so stock up!!)
Enjoy, and as always have fun with your food!! Let your kids in on the fun as well - this is a perfect recipe they can make all on their own!
~Cheers!

Total cost: $9.00 - includes 1 bag Velata chocolate, (but remember for this size you are only using 1/2 a bag) and the box of microwave popcorn. Makes about 4 servings = $2.25/serving
